5 Things You Need to Know Today: June 11

Our weekday morning column, 5 Things You Need to Know, provides you with information that can help you plan your day and give you some fodder for water cooler conversations.

1. Are you a believer in palm readings? Miss Mello Palm and Tarot Card Readings will open sometime this summer at 20 Main St., a vacant space that used to be the Silver Hanger Cleaners. As soon as the shop is cleared of cleaning racks and other items, the new owner will remodel the space. Selectmen approved the business license last week.

2. A fundraiser for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society will be held at Dairy Queen in Milford Thursday, starting at 5 p.m. and continuing until 8 p.m. Ten percent of all sales, including Drive-Thru sales, will be directed to the benefit.

3. The Cam Neely 5K, a road race to benefit the Military Peer Support Program, will be held in Milford on June 23. The start is at 9 a.m. End time, no later than 11:30 a.m. Police will block roads as needed. The route starts on National Street, and heads down Depot Street to Beach, Mt. Pleasant and East Street, before heading back to the finish on Howard Street.

4. Do you have a young child interested in football? The Milford Community School Use program has a Hawks Football Clinic, featuring the high school coaches and trainers, running from July 7 to 11. See the announcement for all the details.

5. Gov. Deval Patrick has ordered all state buildings to lower flags to half-staff from Friday through Monday in honor of the late Gov. Paul Cellucci.
