5 Things You Need to Know Today: June 14

Our weekday morning column, 5 Things You Need to Know, provides you with information that can help you plan your day and give you some fodder for water cooler conversations.
1. Milford TV has an active channel on YouTube, for residents who may not be home at the time of its regularly scheduled programs and live broadcasts. One of the recent uploads is an interview with the members of Greenleaf Garden Club, who planted flowers for Memorial Day around town.
2. Swim lesson registration at Fino Field is set for June 29, with the program starting July 8. This is a service by Milford Rotary offered for more than 50 years. The Red Cross swim program registration begins at 9 a.m. and continues until noon. Program fee is $25 per child, or $60 per family. Children must be registered for Kindergarten by the fall or older. See the announcement for more details.

3. Frozen Yogurt is now available for sale in Milford. The recently opened Yum Yum Froyo is in the Quarry Plaza on East Main Street. The shop has 50 choices of toppings. Most popular? Chocolate jimmies and strawberry flavored bobo balls.
4. Many people in Milford already know this, but in case you don't: the town will be holding its Fourth of July fireworks celebration on July 3. Rain date is July 5.

5. Milford Selectmen will meet Monday. The agenda is expected to include a presentation by Casino Free Milford representatives, who will respond to the recent presentation to selectmen of the Foxwoods Massachusetts developers.
