Our weekday morning column, 5 Things You Need to Know, provides you with information that can help you plan your day and give you some fodder for water cooler conversations. 1. Milford Selectmen meet at 7 p.m. Monday. The agenda includes a series of public hearings with bars and restaurants that violated liquor license laws in police compliance checks. 2. Selectmen will be asked to approve the dates for the annual Portuguese Parade and Picnic. The dates sought are July 20 and 21, with hours from noon to 1 a.m. on July 20 and noon to 11 p.m. on the 21st. The parade would begin at 2 p.m. July 21. 3. Several fourth-graders at Woodland Elementary School have received recognition for their competition in the WordMasters competition:  4. Do you have a favorite photo of your father? Or of the man in your life who is a father? Upload the photo by 5 p.m. Monday to our Father's Day gallery for a chance to win a $25 gift card. 5. The Milford Softball team won a back-to-back state championship on Friday night, defeating Agawam 1-0 for the District 1 state championship. Read the recap of the game here.
