5 Things You Need to Know Today: May 16

The Massachusetts Gaming Commission meets today to discuss, and vote, on a final process for Phase 2 casino applications. And lifeguard certification in CPR is being offered at the Milford High School pool.

Our weekday morning column, 5 Things You Need to Know, provides you with information that can help you plan your day and give you some fodder for water cooler conversations.

1. The commission, which will decide which casino applicant gets a license in greater Boston, is now meeting every second Thursday, beginning at 9:30 a.m. 

2. The owners of a little dog named Pepsi are asking for the public's help in finding her. They've had several sightings, but so far no one has found her. See the announcement for contact information.

3. The next hearing in the Nicolas Guaman case has been moved from June 11 to July 17. Superior Judge Janet Kenton-Walker approved the extension Wednesday.

4. A reminder that the Annual Town Meeting is Monday in Milford. The warrant has 45 articles and is available on the Milford town website.

5. The Milford Community School Use Program will offer a Lifeguard Recertification of CPR program for individuals at the Milford High School pool. The fee is $35. Full Lifeguard Recertification will be scheduled on an individual basis. Register by calling the Community Use office at (508) 478-1119. Deadline to register is June 7.
