5 Things You Need to Know Today: May 29
Friendly Carwash has closed, but another carwash will soon take its place.

Our weekday morning column, 5 Things You Need to Know, provides you with information that can help you plan your day and give you some fodder for water cooler conversations.
1. Friendly Carwash has closed after several years, and in its place, another carwash will open by July 1. The new business owner is renovating the space, and will install a new carwash tunnel. The building was being repainted on Tuesday. Improvements also will be made to the parking lot, accessed off Green Street. The new tenant hopes to continue to offer the Mobil One oil change business, said a representative for the property owner, Makepar Corp.
2. The Milford Rotary Club has announced its American Red Cross swim lesson signups. Registration will be Saturday, June 29 from 9 a.m. to noon at Fino Field Pool. The fee for lessons is $25 per child and/or $60 per family. All students must be registered for Kindergarten, as of September 2013, or older. Participants can choose a 9:30 a.m. or 10:30 a.m. class.

3. If you normally travel on South Main Street, near PiNZ, expect delays and detours Wednesday. The Grafton-Upton Railroad is installing a railroad crossing across South Main Street. Milford Police will detour vehicles traveling north and south on South Main Street at Fruit Street.
4. Students at Middle School East are taking part in Heritage Week. The students today will hear from guest speakers, discussing the history of Milford. And students will tour town historical points, including and St. Mary's Cemetery. On Thursday, for lessons in wilderness and the outdoors, students will learn how to brave the elements, build rabbit snares, identify edible and dangerous plants, and build a shelter.

5. Past issues of the Milford Town Crier are now available on microfilm at the Milford Town Library, dating back to 2009. The new service is made available through a donation of the Friends of the Milford Town Library.
