5 Things You Need to Know Today: May 30

Milford Superintendent Robert Tremblay has received state recognition of his commitment to arts education, and evening swim registration through Community School Use is coming up soon.

Our weekday morning column, 5 Things You Need to Know, provides you with information that can help you plan your day and give you some fodder for water cooler conversations.

1. Milford Superintendent of Schools Robert Tremblay has received a Champion of Arts Education Advocacy Award. The Kathy Tosolini Excellence in School Administration award is sponsored by Arts ǀ Learning, a Natick-based non-profit dedicated to developing the artistic and academic competence of preschool through college students.

2. Milford High School  The 13-7 Milford Scarlet Hawks will play the Hillers in the first round, starting at 4 p.m.

3. Milford Community School Use will hold its registration for summer swim lessons and summer day camp on Monday. The registration begins at 6 p.m. in the Milford High School pool lobby. If registering for day camp, please bring the most recent copy of your child's physical.

4. Milford Area Chamber of Commerce will host a Connections luncheon on June 7 featuring the executive director and community liaison for Alternatives, who will talk to area business owners and managers about the benefits of hiring people with disabilities. The lunch starts at 11:45 a.m. at Lowell's Restaurant in Mendon.

5. The Fourth of July fireworks in Milford will be held July 3, at 10 p.m. The rain date is July 5, same time.
