
The United States Coast Guard Auxiliary Tri-State Flotilla 1002 will be instructing two courses developed to provide the skills and confidence needed to explore the coast and inland waters by various boats. Â
They are offered as part of the Milford Community School Use Program. Course information and the registration process can be found in the Winter Milford Community Center catalog that is sent out by mail to the surrounding community, or online at  www.milford.ma.us/mcs, (under Adult Ed/Rec-Winter-Boating) or call the MCSU at 508-478-1119. Â
The USCGAux. offers Public Education Courses given by certified instructors at no charge however there is a facility usage/registration fee to MCSU for these courses and the additional cost for the textbook/study guide/certification & materials to the CGAux. COURSES OFFERED:
ABOUT BOATING SAFELY:  Basic knowledge and skills needed to have safe and enjoyable boating experiences. Fantastic course for boat owners or those considering the future purchase of some type of vessel. A great course to keep up with the latest laws and regulations. Will certify a minor on Mass. waters, from 12 to 16 years of age, to operate a powerboat (including 16 & 17 year old Personal Water Craft operators) as required. The certificate issued on completion will also cover you in other states & most countries where boating safety education is mandatory to operate a vessel. Many boating insurance companies offer a discount on premiums for successful completion. One day on Saturday, April 20 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Memorial Hall, 30 School St., Milford.

PADDLESPORTS AMERICA: For novice and future Canoeist, Kayakers, Rowboat Fisherman etc. Will cover the construction, characteristics, and selection of various crafts.  What you need to have and know before you get underway including: planning, loading, storing & securing, equipping, operating various craft, local hazards and laws on the waterways including the Legal Requirements of Boating and restrictions on paddlecraft, and what to do in some emergencies that you may encounter. One night on Wednesday, April 10  6:30 to 9 pm  at Milford High School, 31 West Fountain St., Milford.Â
