Casino Free Milford Rally, HR Professional at Foxwoods Massachusetts

Here are five things to help inform your day.

1. Casino Free Milford will host an information session and rally concerning the Foxwoods Massachusetts casino at 7 p.m. Wednesday at St. Mary of the Assumption parish center. The program will feature state Rep. John Fernandes (D-Milford) who will discuss the casino review process, and former U.S. Rep. from Connecticut Robert Steele, who will address his experience in living near the Foxwoods casino in Connecticut.

2. The Foxwoods Massachusetts storefront from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday will feature Roberta James-Brown, employee relations specialist at Foxwoods Resort Casino in CT, as part of its "Getting to Know Foxwoods" biweekly sessions. An employee of Foxwoods since 1998 with an extensive background in employee training, James-Brown is availble to speak about Foxwoods' diversity, training and other employee benefits programs. The storefront is at 88 Main St.

3. A hearing to set a trial date for Nicolas Dutan Guaman has been rescheduled to Sept. 26. At that time, a judge will be asked to rule on a motion by the state to set a date for trial.

4. John Root, a naturalist and educator, will speak on edible landscape plantings for the Milford area, in an appearance at Milford Town Library that begins at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

5. Children Across America wil host a Fall Fair on Saturday at 39 Exchange St., featuring a fire truck, face painting and several dozen vendors. The event is from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
