Farmers Market Approved for Town Hall Site, Scioli's Hours Restored

Milford's first farmers market has been given the go-ahead for a location at Milford Town Hall. It will run on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. starting Aug. 24.

1. A farmers market that will feature homemade breads, vegetables, fresh honey, cheeses and other produce and food products will begin Aug. 24 in the parking lot at Milford Town Hall. Selectmen gave an initial OK Monday. The group organizing the market will now contact farmers and encourage them to apply to sell their foods and veggies through a Board of Health process.

2. Scioli's Pizza Bar will have its hours restored as of Aug. 15. The restaurant and bar had been penalized this year by town officials for a fight that involved one of its former bouncers, in part with an 11 p.m. closing time for six months. The restaurant owner's attorney said Monday private security will be in place when the closing hours are restored to 1 a.m.

3. A gazebo recently placed in the Louisa Lake park is the work of an Eagle Scout, Ryan Fitzpatrick, who was recognized Monday by Milford Selectmen.

4. Dunkin' Donuts is hiring in Milford and in surrounding towns, including Hopkinton and Holliston. A job fair will be held from noon to 3 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays, and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Fridays at the coffee chain's human resources office in Holliston, at 441 Washington St. Starting pay is $9.50 an hour. Complete an online application first at www.dunkindonuts.com.

5. Stop & Shop in Milford has recently added a curbside pickup service, through Peapod.com. The service allows people to order groceries online, and have them packed and ready to pickup.
