Former Milford Cop at Center of Ashland Police Controversy

Former Milford Police Officer Edward Pomponio is at the center of ongoing accusations of harassment at the Ashland Police Department.

Ashland Provisional Police Sgt. Edward Pomponio, a former Milford police officer, is at the center of an investigation into harassment and threats in the Ashland Police Department, according to a report by WCVB Channel 5 Boston.

Issues in Ashland followed the hiring of Pomponio after controversy while he was at the Milford Police Department. He resigned from the Milford department in 2005 after being found engaged in a sexual act with a married woman while on the job and in uniform, according to the report.

Ashland Chief Scott Rohmer hired Pomponio following that resignation. By that time, Pomponio had his gun license revoked by Milford Police Chief Thomas O'Loughlin as he had allegedly been harassing both the chief, other officers and their family, according to court documents cited in the report.

Reports of harassment have followed Pomponio to his new position in Ashland. His conduct, and the conduct Ashland's chief have led Ashland officials to bring in a new town manager, according to the Channel 5 report.
