Attempted Murder Suspect Pointed Gun At Milford Police During Confrontation

The Fairhaven man, who was wearing body armor, was arrested near the Medway line after a regional police response.

MILFORD, MA — A Fairhaven man was arrested over the weekend on more than two dozen charges after a confrontation with Milford officers where he pointed a gun at them, police said.

Milford police went to Medway on Friday around 5:30 p.m. to help police there on a call about an armed man from Fairhaven. Police in that town, which is near New Bedford, had sent out an alert to police across the state after the man was being "combative" in Fairhaven.

Two Milford officers and a detective encountered Zachary Travers near the Medway town line and pulled him over. Police said Travers was wearing body armor and pointed a handgun at them. After a "brief stalemate," Milford police arrested Travers.
