MILFORD, MA — A Milford program that monitors properties in town for blight or code violations is back.

The select board and health board have reinstated the Neighborhood Task Force Program, which went into dormancy due to COVID-19 health restrictions. The task force cites owners of blighted, rundown and decaying properties, and searches for violations of town codes and ordinances.

The program's pandemic break has led to a noticeable uptick in "signs of blight and nuisance conditions in neighborhoods," the town said in announcing the reformation.

The task force includes police, code enforcement officers from the building, zoning, fire and health departments.

"Let’s all be part of the solution and not allow absentee landlords and troubled properties to negatively impact our neighborhoods. It is the Task Force initiative to hold negligent property owners and residents more accountable," the town said in a news release.
