Milford Holds Listening Session On Vulnerability Preparedness

MILFORD, MA—Town planners and officials are holding a meeting for the community in order to talk about how natural disasters may affect Milford, and what can be done about it if it happens.

Milford is hosting a public listening session on Aug. 1, 2018 in Room 3, at the Milford Town Hall, 52 Main St. from 10-11:30 a.m. The purpose of the public listening session will be to present the results of the Community Resilience Building (CRB) Workshop and discuss how climate-related\natural hazards may impact the community in the future.

According to the announcement, in 2017 the Town received a $19,500 Municipal Vulnerability Preparedness (MVP) Grant from the Massachusetts Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs (EEA). The MVP grant provided funding to the Town to conduct a workshop which was held on June 19 2018 to;

• Prepare for the Community Resilience Building (CRB) workshop
• Characterize hazards
• Identify community vulnerabilities
• Identify infrastructural vulnerabilities and strengths
• Identify and prioritize community actions
• Determine overall priority actions.

Residents, community stakeholders, and business owners are invited to attend and provide input on the Town’s ongoing work to reduce and mitigate the impacts from future climate related and natural hazards.
