Milford police are warning local residents about a recent phone scam regarding a caller from the number 911.
Two recent reports involved Milford residents who received calls from 911, with the caller informing the residents that an arrest warrant had been issued for them and they should contact a particular detective at the number 1-919-714-0101.

The call, Milford police said this week, was not legitimate, and a search for the number on Google revealed the scam may have derived from India.
“Neither person fell victim to this and alerted local law enforcement, which investigated,” Milford Police Lt. James Falvey wrote in a statement Thursday. “There were no warrants for either person. Law enforcement and government agencies do not resolve legal matters via telephone in this manner.”
