Obituaries: Marie Creamer, Mark Taylor, Mary Castagnaro, Jean Ozella, Theresa Pond

The following residents of Milford died in recent days.

Marie R. (Giancola) Creamer, 72, of Milford, died May 2 at Countryside Healthcare of Milford after a brave struggle with cancer. She was the beloved wife of Joseph Creamer. 

Mrs. Creamer was born in Marlboro and was a graduate of Marlboro High School, Class of 1958. Following her marriage, she lived for many years in Hopedale, before moving to Milford. She worked as a dental assistant for several years. Marie most recently worked at the former Pago Pago Restaurant and had retired from the Massachusetts Electric Company. 

Mark A. Taylor, 30, of Milford, died unexpectedly on April 30 at his residence.

Mr. Taylor was born in Westwood NJ, the son of William and Susan (McCoy) Taylor. He was a graduate of Milford High School, Class of 2001. He also attended the University of Colorado and Framingham State University.

Mr. Taylor had been employed at F.A.S.T. Athletics, where he worked as a youth sports coach and mentor. He enjoyed being around young adults and mentoring them. He also was an avid sportsman who loved camping, fishing and cooking. He was also an avid Boston Bruins, Boston Red Sox and NE Patriots fan. Mark also had a passion for music and loved to play the guitar.

Mary C. (Alphonse) Castagnaro, 84, of Milford died April 29 at Milford Regional Medical Center. She was the wife of Raymond Castagnaro who died in 1997.

Born in Milford, daughter of the late Vincent and Aurora (Gomes) Alphonse, Mrs. Castagnaro was educated in the Milford schools. She retired in 1997 from the Milford Hospital where she was employed in housekeeping for 16 years. She had also worked at the former Draper Corporation in Hopedale. Mrs. Castagnaro was a communicant of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, and a member of the Sacred Heart Womens Club.

Jean F. (McCormack) Ford Ozella, 89, of Milford, died April 25 at her residence after a period of declining health. She was the wife of the late Anthony J. “Sharkey” Ozella and the late John Ford. 

Mrs. Ozella was born in Capella, Queensland Australia the daughter of the late Michael H. and the late Esther M. (Ring) McCormack. She attended grammar schools in Australia as a young girl. Mrs. Ozella met her first husband, the late John Ford, while attending nursing school in Brisbane Australia and in 1946 she was transported on the USS Monterey with her fellow 562 war brides to San Francisco. She then traveled by train across country to Worcester and settled in Milford. 

Mrs. Ozella later owned and operated Sharkey’s Diner in Milford with her late husband, Anthony Ozella, as well as Jean’s Restaurant. She later started the longtime family catering business, known as Jean’s Catering, which she was involved in until her recent decline in health. She also owned and operated the former Jean’s Italian Vineyard restaurant located in Milford from 1975 to 1983.  

Theresa R. (Boni) Pond, 77, of Milford, died April 19 at her residence surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with cancer. She was the wife of Clifford E. Pond. She was born in Milford, the daughter of the late John J. and the late Rita (Byron) Boni and was a life-long Milford resident. She graduated from the former St. Mary’s High School in 1954 and from the former Milford Hospital School of Nursing in 1958. She would meet on a monthly basis for lunch with her former classmates. 

Mrs. Pond was employed as a registered nurse at both the Milford Regional Medical Center and the former Cushing Hospital in Framingham. She was a communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Church.
