You might be surprised at all the events, groups, trips and services Milford's senior center has to offer. Here' a look at the schedule.

MILFORD, MA—Milford'sRuth Anne Bleakney Senior Center offers a range of events, groups, presentations and trips to the town's older population, and sometimes all.

Kick off to Summer Party: Friday, June 15 at 12:30 p.m. Hamburgers, hotdogs and much more. Raffles, too. Entertainment by Tommy Rull. Tickets are $5.

Party on the Patio: Wednesday, June 20 at 11:30 a.m. Hamburgers & hotdogs and much more. Event sponsored by Blaire House. Be sure to sign up EARLY at the front desk. FREE EVENT

Ongoing Monthly Events:

Breakfast: Wednesday, June 6 at 9-10:30 a.m. Sponsored by Senior Medicare Patrol Program. Guest Speaker is Scott Simundza. Topic: Avoiding Medicare Fraud. Tickets are $3.

Adult Low Vision Support Group: Thursday, June 7 at 9:30–10:30 a.m. – The first Thursday of each month, the low vision support group meets and welcomes those who are experiencing vision loss or blindness. If you would like to attend, please come to the Senior Center the first Thursday of each month. No Cost.

Healthy Living Luncheon: Thursday, June 21 at 12:30 p.m. Lunch sponsored by Milford Regional Medical Center. Presentation by Brenda Lee. Topic: Stroke Prevention. $5 refundable

Book Club: Tuesday, June 19 at 10 a.m. - Book Club: Tuesday, May 15 at 10 a.m. - “Hush ” by John Hart. A follow-up of John Hart’s “The Last Child,” it’s been ten years since the events that changed Johnny Merrimon’s life. He has fought to maintain his privacy, but books have been written of his exploits. Living alone, Johnny’s only connection to normal life is his old friend, Jack. They’re not boys anymore, but the bonds remain. What they shared and lost, and the dangers and fears that is to come. To reserve a copy of the book, please call the Milford Town Library’s Information Desk at 508-473-2145.

Men’s Group Meeting: Thursday, June 28 at 10 am. Featured speaker TBD

Movie: Friday, June 29 at 12:30 p.m. – Sing: Rated PG1hr 48m. Animals of all stripes -- including an under-appreciated mother minding 25 piglets, a young gorilla trapped in gang life and a shy elephant -- find hope in a life-changing singing competition to save the local theater.

Cast: Matthew McConaughey, Reese Witherspoon, and Seth MacFarlane. No Cost & FREE POPCORN. Bring your own lunch!

Upcoming Trips:

Spirit of Boston: Boston Harbor Cruise & Luncheon: Wednesday, June 27. Tickets: $84.00 Depart center at 9 a.m. You will travel along the Boston Common and then board the Spirit of Boston for a 2 hour narrated tour and a buffet luncheon of Salad, Vegetables, Roast Salmon, Tilapia, Chicken Parm, Meatballs, Baked Ziti, and desserts. Following the cruise, you will then travel to the North End for some shopping. Return to center approx. 5:30 p.m.

The Aqua Turf Club: Celebrate Italia!!: Tuesday, July 17. Tickets are $84. Depart center at 9:30 a.m. Travel to the Aqua Turf Club in Plantsville, CT. A family style luncheon of salad, penne with meatballs & sausage, chicken parmesan, vegetables, rolls & butter, a complimentary glass of wine or beer, coffee & tea, and spumoni for dessert will be served. You will also enjoy Italian music from Dominic DePasquale, one of Rhode Island’s most popular Italian singer and will be backed by the Orchestra Romanza featuring many of New England’s top musicians. Return to center at approximately 5:00 p.m.

The Famous Boston Ducks: Tuesday, Aug. 21. Tickets are $94. Depart center at 8:30 a.m. You will arrive in Boston and tour the Boston Common and the Public Gardens. Enjoy a luncheon at the “No Name” restaurant located on the Fish Pier. Entrée choices include broiled swordfish, haddock, chicken, & salmon. Following your luncheon you will then board the famous duck boat and enjoy the sights of Boston and plunge into the Charles River for a brief cruise! Return to center at approximately 5:30 p.m.

Granite State Chocolate & Wine Tour: Thursday, Oct. 4. Tickets are $79. Depart center at 8:30 a.m. Arrive at the Sanborn Fine Candies in Hampton Beach voted the "Seacoast's Best Candy Shop." You will then travel to Warren's Lobster House with entree choices of crab crusted salmon; top sirloin steak; ritzy filet of fresh haddock; or seafood newburg. Following lunch, you will visit the Jewell Towne Vineyard winner of the 2016 "Best Wine in NH Gold Medal" for a tour and wine tasting. You will also have the opportunity to purchase some of the fine wines. Return to the center approximately 5:30 p.m.

Milford Senior Center Walkers:

Join the walking club. Meets on Monday through Friday at 8 a.m. at the Center to walk the Friends of the Milford Upper Charles Trail.

The center is open is open Monday through Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday, 1-4 p.m.
