Police Log: Children Left Unattended, Sneakers used for Collateral

The following information was provided by the Milford Police Department. Charges do not indicate a conviction.

Friday, March 1

4:35 p.m.: Police responded to a two-car crash on Prospect Street, near Shaw's. No one was injured.

5:30 p.m.: A caller told police groceries were scattered all over the road on East Main at Hayward streets. Police arrived but the groceries were gone.

5:59 p.m.: A Nissan Maxima was repossessed on North Street.

6:25 p.m.: A two-car crash was reported on Medway Road, near Applebee's. No one was injured.

6:40 p.m.: A caller told police a group of youths was harassing customers entering and leaving Tedeschi's. Police restored peace.

6:52 p.m.: A woman on Highland Street reported her vehicles had been egged for the second time.

7:09 p.m.: A caller on Senate Road reported a neighbor stole her sneakers. Police determined no theft took place. The sneakers were given to the neighbor as collateral. The sneakers were to be returned to the police station that night.

7:49 p.m.: A caller reported a Ford F-150 was all over the road on East Main Street. The vehicle was gone when police arrived.

10:07 p.m.: A man on Maher Court reported his upstairs tenant was banging on his ceiling, harassing him. Police spoke to landlord and tenant.

10:51 p.m.: A caller on Shadowbrook Lane reported he heard six gun shots. Police responded but could not locate the source.

Saturday, March 2

12:39 a.m.: Police responded to Caffe Sorrento, where an intoxicated patron was causing a disturbance. Police spoke to the person near Milford Town Hall.

1:27 a.m.: A caller reported a lot of yelling coming from an apartment on Vincenzo Road. Police spoke to the people involved.

7:14 a.m.: A woman walked in to police headquarters to report harassment.

8:30 a.m.: A man reported he was operating his 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt the previous night, and he hit a deer on Medway Road.

8:31 a.m.: Following a motor vehicle stop on Beach at East streets, police arrested Jose M. Pesantez, 34, of 13 Genoa Ave., Apt. 1, Milford, on charges of unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and violation of state highway signal, sign or markings.

11:54 a.m.: The town's animal control officer asked police to take a report of harassment. The employees of Target allegedly harassed a customer who tried to enter the store with his service dog.

12:30 p.m.: A man walked in to police headquarters to report he was supposed to have his child today, but his ex will not comply with the court order. He asked to speak to an officer.

12:40 p.m.: A man reported his friend stole his handicap placard, along with some other belongings. An officer spoke to him and told him he would have to contact Boston Police.

1:02 p.m.: Shaw's reported it had a male shoplifter in custody. An officer determined it was a misunderstanding, and all property had been recovered.

3:37 p.m.: A woman told police she was in the parking lot outside when a woman wearing a surgical mask and dark sunglasses went up to her and said she had a question. She went on asking questions about terrorism and what would happen to someone working in an organization. Police spoke to the woman later and reported she "appears to be fine at this time."

5:10 p.m.: A caller reported a woman at Target was begging people for rides. She was carrying a 3-month-old infant who did not have a hat or a jacket. The woman then entered a white sedan.

5:43 p.m.: The state Department of Children and Families requested a well being check on several parties. According to the police narrative, a woman had dropped two of her children off at their biological father's house, placed them in his car without telling him, and he did not know they were in the car until he went outside six hours later. DCF and the man were unable to make contact with the woman. DCF requested a check on both the children's safety and to check the mental state of the woman. Police contacted the woman, and she said she would contact DCF.

6:05 p.m.: Following a motor vehicle stop on Fruit Street, police are seeking a summons to charge Mark A. Sanchez, 19, of 2 Fruit St., Milford, with operating an uninsured motor vehicle and operating a motor vehicle with suspended registration. The Toyota Scion was towed.

Sunday, March 3

2:25 a.m.: Following a motor vehicle stop on Main Street, near Tony's Place, police arrested Anel Brkic, 22, of 6 Shadowbrook Lane, Apt. 11, Milford, and charged him with operating a motor vehicle with suspended license and a number plate violation (not illuminated.) 

2:39 a.m.: An employee at Tedeschi reported a man with a backpack was caught stealing. The employee retrieved the goods and asked him to leave.

2:50 a.m.: A caller reported a Honda was all over the road on Main Street, and possibly lost. The vehicle stopped and the caller asked the other driver if they were all set, and the other driver become confrontational and then started following the caller. Police responded and spoke to the other driver.

1:10 p.m.: Following a motor vehicle stop on Prospect Street, police are seeking a summons to charge Michael L. Harvey, 56, of 324 S. Main St., Hopedale, with failure to yield at an intersection and operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license.

1:48 p.m.: Police responded to Milford Town Hall after receiving a complaint that youths were skateboarding on the stairs. Police spoke to them.

4:36 p.m.: A man reported he found a wallet on Main Street.

4:55 p.m.: A caller reported his vehicle was involved in a crash on Veteran's Memorial Drive, and his car was up on a rock and couldn't be moved. Police requested a tow truck.

5:13 p.m.: Police received a complaint of an ATV in the road on West Street. Police responded but the ATV was gone.
