Police Log: Illegal Dumping of Lawn Mower, Concrete Dust Triggers Alarm

The following information was provided by the Milford Police Department. All arrests are reported. Charges do not indicate a conviction.

Thursday, June 6

5:35 p.m.: A woman in the police station asked to speak to an officer about harassment.

5:39 p.m.: A child could be seen on the Milford Police cameras running toward the building. An officer went out to talk to the child, and he took off yelling and crying. Police spoke with the mother.

5:47 p.m.: Firefighters and EMTs responded to a report of a crash with injury on East Main Street at Zain Circle. Police requested two ambulances to evaluate the people involved.

6:56 p.m.: A caller said her friend was heavily intoxicated and making threats to hurt himself. He had been depressed since losing his job and has been on a multiple-day bender at Holiday Inn Express, she reported. Police responded and requested an ambulance. The man was taken to Milford Regional Medical Center.

10:42 p.m.: A woman said a man was causing a disturbance on School Street. She was unsure what the problem was, due to a language barrier.

10:52 p.m.: A woman with bruising and lacerations to the face said she was assaulted by a man who brought her to Milford Regional Medical Center, according to hospital staff, who called police. The man was in the waiting room. Police arrested Alcindor Cruz DeOliveira, 34, of 52 Grove St., Apt. 2, Milford, on charges of domestic assault and battery, possession of a Class B drug, and intimidating a witness.

Friday, June 7

7:41 a.m.: A caller reported illegal dumping in the area of Briar Drive. It appeared someone had dropped off a lawn mower on his property. Police said the property was in a wooded area, and asked Milford Highway Department to collect the mower.

10:23 a.m.: A disturbance was reported on Colonial Road. A woman reported a man who she has a restraining order against had just tried to hit her with his car while she was going into her apartment. He fled the scene.

11:41 a.m.: An elderly man fell at Shaw's Supermarket. He hit his head and was bleeding near the entrance, a caller said. He was taken to a hospital.

1:11 p.m.: Firefighters responded to Doubletree by Hilton Hotel, where the hotel reported smoke was coming from the Legend's sports bar. A firefighter reported no fire, but the alarm had been set off by concrete dust.
