Voting Deadlines Change with New Town Election Date

The decision to move the town election to April 30 means a change in schedule. See the new deadlines here.

Milford will hold its town elections later than typical this year — on April 30 — to combine with the special primary election for the open U.S. Senate seat vacated by now-Secretary of State John Kerry.

Milford Selectmen approved the combined election dates this week.

As a result, the deadlines for campaign- and election-related events has changed, including the final day to register to vote.

Town Clerk Amy Hennessey-Neves provided the following information on the new deadlines:

March 8: final date for candidates to withdraw their names from the ballot. 5 p.m. is deadline, at Town Clerk's office.

April 10: final date to register to vote. 8 p.m. is the deadline, at Town Clerk's office.

April 22: first reporting date for candidates to file election finance reports. 5 p.m. is deadline, at Town Clerk's office. These finance reports cover activity from Jan. 1 to April 22.

April 23: final date for town clerk to post warrant in at least 10 places in town. 5 p.m. is deadline.

April 30: election day. Polling hours are 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Polling locations are Precincts 1 and 4: Senior Center; Precincts 2 and 3: Italian Veterans Post; Precincts 5,6,7 and 8: Portuguese Club.

May 30: Campaign finance reports due from candidates. These finance reports cover activity from April 23-May 30.

June 5: Last day to register for the State Election for U.S. Senate seat. 8 p.m. is deadline at Milford Town Clerk's office.

June 25: State Election for U.S. Senate seat, polls open 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
