When is Milford's Fall 2014 Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day?

Find out when and where to dispose of hazardous materials this fall.

The Milford Board of Health has announced that it will host a Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day next month for all town residents.

The collection event will be held rain or shine on Saturday, Nov. 1 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Milford Highway Department on Front Street.

The collection is meant for Milford residents only (proof of residency is required), and there will be no charge for collection.

Items That Will Be Accepted

  • Fuels, gasoline or kerosene
  • Rubber cement and glue
  • Fiberglass
  • Antifreeze
  • Engine degreaser
  • Resins
  • Photo chemicals
  • Brake fluid and carburetor cleaner
  • Transmission fluid
  • CHemistry sets
  • Furniture and floor polish
  • Oven cleaner
  • Drain & toilet cleaner
  • Driveway sealer
  • Strippers and thinners
  • Lighter fluid
  • Spot removers
  • Roofing tar
  • Swimming pool chemicals

Items That Will NOT Be Accepted

  • Asbestos
  • Smoke detectors
  • Commercial or industrial waste
  • Radioactive waste
  • Infectious and biological wastes
  • Ammunition
  • Fireworks
  • Explosives
  • Fire extinguishers
  • Commercial or industrial generators

Items Accepted at the Transfer Facility on Cedar Street

The following items are accepted regularly with varying fees to be applied.

  • Motor oil
  • Water- and oil-based paints
  • Car batteries
  • Fluorescent light bulbs
  • TVs
  • Computer monitors
