Department of Public Works Offers Syringe Disposal

Massachusetts instituted a ban on throwing away syringes in garbage bags last month.

After the disposal of syringes, needles and lancets, collectively known as "sharps," in plastic trash bags was banned last week by the state Natick's Department of Public Works, partnering with the Board of Health, is offering a sharps disposal service.

Residents with used sharps can bring them to the Department of Public Works at 75 West Street during the department's normal operating hours, which can be found here.

The disposal service is intended only for the disposal of personal sharps used by Natick residents, not those generated by nurses or home aids.
