Electricity Aggregation Service Hopes to Lower Natick Power Bills

Natick residents could save an estimated $130 annually on their electric bill if the town votes at the next town meeting to allow an energy aggregation service to sell residents wholesale power. 

Global Montello Group hopes to be able to buy energy from a variety of different power producers and sell that power to Natick residents, often at a price cheaper than what NStar is currently offering, the company's representative said. 

If approved at town meeting, residents would get to decide either to get power from the aggregation service or to stick with NStar. 

Leo Sullivan, a representitive from Global Montelle Group, presented his company's proposal at a Board of Selectmen meeting Monday night. He said since Marlborough started with the service in 2007, residents there have saved more than $2 million on their electric bills. 

"This will also allow more green energy to be worked into the grid," Sullivan said.
