NEEDHAM, MA — One person is dead and another is seriously injured after a crash involving two pickup trucks in Needham early Tuesday morning, according to Massachusetts State Police. The crash occurred around 4:40 a.m. on Route 95 South near Exit 33, where investigators believe one of the pickup trucks went out of control and ended up perpendicular to incoming traffic before a second truck hit its side. The driver of the first truck died at the scene, while the driver of the second truck was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, according to police. It was rainy at the time of the crash and the road was wet, police said. Three of the four southbound lanes were closed for approximately two hours to accommodate the rescue response and investigation. The cause of the crash is still under investigation and the deceased victim's name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
