5 Things You Need to Know: Book Sale, Chechen Panel and Money in Politics

Five Things you need to know for April 25.

 

1. The National Weather Service promises that today will become sunny. They put the high at 66ºF, and with the evening comes a low of 38ºF. 

2. The Friends of the Wellesley Free Library are holding their Spring 2013 Book Sale. Want to pick up a gently loved book? The Members Preview day starts at 5 p.m. at the Wellesley Free Library. Friday and Saturday, the library will have the main sale, and on Sunday, the $5 bag sale.

3. Charles River YMCA wants you to start here for a Healthy Lifestyle with a class on Sports Nutrition with Beth Israel Hospital. Starting at 6:30 p.m. tonight. Non-members who sign up for a Y membership on free workshop days pay $0 joiner fee, and get $10 in YBucks.

4. A Panel on “” is slated for 8 p.m. tonight in the Pendleton Atrium at Wellesley College. They will have Philip Kohl, Kathryn Wasserman Davis Professor of Slavic Studies and Professor of Anthropology; Nina Tumarkin, Professor of History; and former Ambassador Thomas Simons as panelists. Thomas Hodge, Professor of Russian, will serve as moderator. It is free and open to the public, parking on campus is also free.

5. Author Lawrence Lessig is coming to Franklin W. Olin College of Engineering to talk about The Influence of Money on Our Democracy: What Can We the People Do? Join the League of Women Voters of Needham for a discussion at 7:30 p.m. It is free, but the seats are limited to 300.
