Adam Block Runs for Re-election to Needham Planning Board

Current Needham Planning Board Chair Adam Block is running for re-election in Needham's April 11 town election.

"During three years on the Board, I’ve worked hard to help Needham improve its planning process and results,” Adam stated. “We’ve worked through difficult issues, including the Muzi rezoning and Housing Affordability planning in an effort to provide long-term benefit to the town. I am running for re-election to continue that work.”

During his first term, Adam led three significant zoning bylaw changes with unanimous consent through Town Meeting. Brew pubs and microbreweries were added as new permissible uses with thoughtfully planned locations for each use, and during the pandemic - in an effort to help the town lead the Commonwealth by permitting outdoor dining - Adam led a zoning bylaw change through Town Meeting by unanimous vote.

Adam has consistently supported responsible business development to provide revenue for schools and town services, and control the residential tax burden, while managing traffic and safety, and minimizing neighborhood impacts. He has advocated for zoning changes to improve housing options for downsizing seniors and young families in Needham. These efforts include multifamily housing near public transportation, the Needham Housing Authority’s facilities master plan, and allowing accessory dwelling units (ADU’s or In-Law Apartments) in residential neighborhoods.

“I’m committed to an open, participatory process that helps the town sustainably meet current and future needs,” Adam stated. “I ask voters to visit my website, voteadamblock.org, or email me directly at VoteAdamBlock@gmail.com with any questions, comments or suggestions. I believe this work is serious and important and hope that my candidacy will earn the support of the voters.”
