Needham’s Jake Shuman helped Team New England defeat Team USA-32 to 28- in the prestigious 2012 John D. Mineck DBC Junior Cup, during the Deutsche Bank Championship week.
The annual Jr. Cup event, held Sept. 1 and 2 at Boston Golf Club in Hingham, showcased 40 of the country’s best young golfers, ages 11-18, competing in 20 four-player, Ryder Cup-style best-ball matches.
The John D. Mineck DBC Junior Cup, named for its co-founder—a long-time supporter of junior golf and a co-founder of Boston Golf Club who passed away in 2007—is one of two junior golf tournaments sponsored by the Deutsche Bank Championship.

The high-profile junior event has been a staple of Championship week for Deutsche Bank, which received Golf Digest’s 2011 Junior Development Award, in part, due to its commitment to youth golf programs and the John D. Mineck DBC Junior Cup.
