Needham To Hold Medication Take-Back Day

Needham health and public safety officials encourage residents to dispose of their unused and expired medications at the upcoming Medication Take-Back Day, to be held Saturday, Sept. 29.

Between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., residents can safely dispose of unwanted, unused and expired medications at a drop-off area in the front, circular driveway of the . Disposing of medications in this way helps to prevent improper access.

Residents are reminded to check the expiration dates on all medications in their home, including over-the-counter items such as cough, cold and allergy medications, as well as prescription drugs. Note: Needles, thermometers, medical waste or illicit drugs such as cocaine or marijuana will not be accepted.

Can’t make the disposal event? Safe medication disposal is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week in the Needham Police Department lobby. A secure disposal unit is located on-site.

Medication Take-Back Day is presented as a joint partnership of the Needham Public Health Department, the Needham Police Department and the Needham Coalition for Youth Substance Abuse Prevention (NCYSAP).
