Boston College Hosting Needham High Graduation

Because it looks like rain, graduation exercise scheduled for Conte Auditorium at Boston College.

 

Graduation at Needham High School is typically on Memorial Field, but rain would put a damper on things--fortunately, there is a backup plan.

Because the National Weather Service (NWS) predicted gloomy weather on the day of, the school announced on Friday that the graduation exercises will be held at Boston College's Conte Forum at 6 p.m.

An information sheet on the Needham High School website, students should report to the B gym at 4:15 p.m. to be taken to the Forum by bus. Students are expected to take the bus because of traffic in the area. 

Doors at the Forum open to family and guests at 5 p.m. Parking is at the Beacon Street garage on campus--the school is encouraging carpools, also because of Chestnut Hill traffic at that time of day. There are no tickets for graduation, because of the size of the venue.

The building is connected to the Alumni Stadium (located in section D3 on the map under PDFs), and seats 8,500 people according to the BC website. It is named for U.S. Representative Silvio Conte, who served in congress for 30 years. 

The NWS forecast as of Sunday night was a little less grim: a 30 percent chance of rain, mostly after 3 p.m., with clouds gathering during the day. Rain and thunderstorms predicted to hit at about 2 a.m. on Tuesday morning.
