Karen Krieger's paintings featured in exhibitions on both coasts

Gorse Mill Studios artist Karen Krieger's ink paintings are featured in two juried exhibitions on display in Massachusetts and California

Needham Artist Karen Krieger’s mixed media ink painting “Confluence III” is featured in the juried Boston Printmakers’ 2023 Biennial at Boston University’s 808 Gallery, and “Confluence IX” is currently exhibited as part of the Yosemite Renaissance juried exhibition at the Yosemite Museum Gallery, in Yosemite National Park, California.

Confluence III was one of 121 pieces selected from 1800 entries by juror Dr. Elizabeth Rudy, the Carl A. Weyerhaeuser Curator of Prints at the Harvard Art Museums. The juror, Dr.
Rudy noted, that with Confluence III, “The meandering, fluid play of media in this piece produces beautiful tones and movement, which approach a suggestion of representation, but stubbornly resist clear, definable forms.” The Biennial will be on display until December 9, 2023. On the West Coast, Confluence IX was selected as part of the 38th annual juried Yosemite Renaissance traveling exhibition. The Yosemite Museum Gallery is the fourth location for this exhibition and the show will be up through December 17th. The final location for the exhibition
will be the Circle Gallery in Madera County California from January 11th through March 8th, 2024. For more information, visit https://www.yosemiterenaissanc...

Krieger’s contemporary ink paintings on traditional Xuan (rice) paper are a study in both the simplicity as well as the complexity of our internalized experience of nature. According to Krieger, “I’m relaying the unseeable but universal feeling of nature in my work. A painting is successful when I’m able to capture an intuitive feeling of the natural world. I’m not so much focused on replicating what I see in nature but more focused on capturing the inner essence of what we
universally experience.”

Krieger’s paintings have been featured in exhibitions in the United States and United Kingdom, and are in numerous private collections. Her work is also exhibited at Inner Space Fine Arts in
North Reading, MA (www.innerspace-fineart.com). She paints out of her studio in Needham, MA, US at Gorse Mill Studios, a restored mill converted into artist’s studios. To learn more about Karen Krieger’s work visit art203.com or follow her on Instagram @KarenMkrieger
