Seniors Graduate from Needham High's Class of 2013

Monday night's graduation exercises for the High School were at Boston College.

Students who were seniors are now graduates, as Needham High School graduated its class of 2013 last night.

Principal Jonathan Pizzi addressed the class, who started at the High School at the same time he did.

He said that, while trying to think of what to say to the class, he remembered a number of events from the past year, such as Chalk it Up, Needham's first team competing in High School Quiz show, and three times the number of students recognized by the National Honors Society.

"This is a class of firsts," Pizzi remarked.

Senior Ned Connolly announced the class of 2013 gift: a granite sign at the Webster Street entrance. Funds leftover from building that sign will be donated to AT Children's Project.

Superintendent Dan Gutenkanst gave students several pieces of conventional wisdom, which he immediately dismissed--rather than "don't rock the boat," he called on students to do just the opposite.

Graduation exercises were held  at the Conte Forum on Boston College's campus because of the weather.
