A Needham man was arrested Saturday night for operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol following a routine traffic stop, police said.Around 8 p.m., an officer on patrol in the area of Highland Avenue observed a vehicle fail to signal as it made a left-hand turn. The officer immediately initiated a traffic stop of the vehicle.As a result of the stop and an ensuing investigation, the operator, 60-year-old Richard Emmett, was placed under arrest.Emmett, a Needham resident, was charged with operating under the influence of alcohol, possessing an open container of alcohol in the vehicle, and failing to display a turn signal.
