Needham Police Log: $9,000 Withdrawal, Red Light Running and More

Monday, April 1

  • Three police units were dispatched to a Yurick Road residence to ensure an unwanted party left the home, after 12:15 a.m. When they arrived, the party had already gone.
  • A woman came into the police station at about 3:30 p.m. and reported her license plate was stolen or missing. The plate was last seen in February, and police filed a report.
  • Before 5 p.m., police saw a vehicle drive through a red light at the intersection of Highland Avenue and May Street. Police stopped the car at Lincoln Street, and learned that the driver, a Joel Gilliam of Newton, 25, was driving on a suspended license. He was arrested and charged with driving on a suspended license, and cited for the red light violation.
  • Webster Street, before 8 p.m., police received ar eport of a credit card fraud from a 63-year-old resident, who said that someone had spent $100 on her credit card on Amazon. The woman contacted Amazon and the credit card company, and she will not be responsible for the charge. The account has also been closed, but police are investigating. 

Tuesday, April 2

  • Police pulled a vehicle over for a marked lanes violation, and after a brief investigation, determined that the driver, a 37-year-old Needham resident, Victor Gamez, was arrested for unlicensed driving.
  • A resident on Brookline Street reported that someone had rung his door bell, and asked to do some work at the property. Before 8 p.m., he says he declined, but reported it to the police. 

Wednesday, April 3

  • At about 8:45 a.m., police were dispatched to Broad Meadow Road for a reported past breaking-and-entering. Detectives came and processed the scene.
  • A door, at a Marsh Road residence, was reportedly forced open, and police found signs that someone had rummaged through the location at about 9 a.m. Police processed the scene, and are investigating the incident.
  • Crash at a Highland Avenue parking lot, 3:30 p.m. After investigating, police learned that one of the drivers was driving while uninsured. He will be summonsed to court.

  • Police responded to the Highland Avenue Citibank location for a possible identity fraud incident. Upon arriving, the bank manager said that a woman was attempting to withdraw $9,000 from a customer's account. The woman, 22-year-old Sheba Flood from the Bronx, was arrested and charged with uttering or forgery. 
  • 4 p.m., police responded to a motorcycle crash outside of a home on Central Avenue. The driver was taken to Beth Israel in Boston with non-life-threatening injuries. 
  • Before 9 p.m., a driver on Kendrick Street hit a deer. The deer died as a result of its injuries, and the vehicle sustained some minor damage.
