Monday, May 27

  • At about 4:15 p.m., police responded to the 1540 block of Central Avenue where they received a report of an injured raccoon in the road. Officers put the animal down.
  • Oxbow road at about 7 p.m., a resident reported that she had been scammed on Craigslist. A resident was selling an item on the internet, and wired a potential buyer $600 in moving expenses. Police are unable to locate the buyer.

  • A South Street resident received a phone call from someone who claimed to have kidnapped her husband and demanded cash for her safe return. The caller had a thick accent, she said, and there was no caller ID. She then called her husband, who said he was unharmed.
  • Police saw a vehicle parked on Donna Road which was both uninsured and unregistered. The vehicle was towed from the home at about 5:15 p.m., and the owner was summonsed to Dedham District Court for having an uninsured vehicle on a public way, and an unregistered vehicle.
  • Possible identity theft reported at a Berkshire Road address, at about 6:45 p.m. Police are investigating the incident. 
  • At about 8:30 p.m., police were dispatched to a Bradford Road residence for a breaking-and-entering in the daytime. The reporting caller said that the only thing missing was a prescription bottle of medication. Police are investigating. 

Wednesday, May 29

  • Needham Police took a report of an attempted larceny from a checking account, at a Hazelton Avenue resident, 11:30 a.m.
  • Fresh graffiti was spotted on a Town Building at Camp Malcolm, at about 1:15 p.m. Police are investigating.
  • A 56-year-old woman was reportedly taking newspapers from the Starbucks on Highland Avenue without paying for them. At about 3:30 p.m., the resident from Pine Grove was instructed not to return to the coffee shop. 
  • 3:30 p.m., police stopped a driver on Maple Street. Shaun McKeage, a 25-year-old from Woonsocket, RI was arrested on a default warrant, and charged with operating a vehicle after suspension. 
  • 4 p.m., a Hunnewell Street reported that her secured garage door had pry marks from an attempted breaking-and-entering. The door was not compromised, and no one gained entry to the house.
  • a Rosemary Street resident reported that her car was damaged, some time before 10 p.m. She was not sure when or where the damage had happened.

  • Property damage crash reported at about 8:30 a.m. on Central Avenue at Reservoir Street. Police completed an information exchange form, and all parties were instructed to speak with their insurance companies. Police took photos of the damage. 
  • At Roche Bros. on Chestnut Street, at about 11:30 a.m. police received a larceny report, indicating that someone took about $100 in cash from a woman's pocket book while it was in her shopping cart.
