Needham Police Log: High School Janitor Charged with Larceny

The following reports were provided by the Needham Police Department. Charges where mentioned do not indicate a conviction.

Monday, Feb 4

• A hit-and-run crash on First Avenue reported at 9:15 a.m. A tractor trailer was reportedly damaged in a hit-and-run crash, believed to have been damaged by another tractor trailer, causing damage to the left side, midway down the box. The suspect vehicle left without exchanging information.
• A license plate was reportedly stolen from a Hillside Avenue residence, which the owner noticed missing on Feb. 2.
• Two vehicles collided on Highland Avnue near the 128 north offramp at about 9:45 a.m., as the two vehicles were merging onto the Avenue when they collided. One of the drivers was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, the other was cited for failing to use care when stopping.
• An officer stopped a vehicle on Hunnewell Street at Andrea Circle, and during the course of the stop at about noon, found a live 9mm round and a spent 9mm round. Police are investigating the incident, and charges are pending.
• 5:30 p.m., police responded to a Great Plain Avenue business for a reported hit-and-run. There was minor damage to a vehicle in the parking lot.

Tuesday, Feb 5

• Police took a report of a breaking-and-entering which occured sometime overnight, about 10:30 a.m. Police determined that entry was made, and the weekend cash deposits were taken. Police are investigating.
• A deer was hit by a vehicle on Southfield Court at Chestnut Street at about 12:30 p.m. Police removed the deer from the roadway and documented the damage to the vehicle.
• At about 12:30 p.m., police took a report of a large metal cabinet taken from a parking garage over the weekend, from the parking lot of a Second Avenue business. 
• A High School teacher had reported jewelry stolen from the coaches room. Police investigated and learned that the items had been taken by a janitor working at the high school, and had been pawned in Rhode Island. Police arrested 21-year-old Kevin Noriega of Central Falls, RI and charged him with larceny.
