Needham Police Log: Missing Fencing, Drinking While Young and More

Friday, April 5

  • While at the Sheraton Hotel's parking garage, a caller reported to police at about 3:15 p.m. that another car had scraped her left rear door. Police do not have a suspect vehicle. 
  • Vandalism of a fence reported at a Great Plain Avenue address, 800 block, at about 8 p.m.
  • After 9:15 p.m., police investigated a report of underage students drinking alcohol. When they arrived on Yurick Road, police found and seized some alcohol, and will summons a 20-year-old Needham man for possession of alcohol while underage.
  • A Country Way resident reported a suspicious man on his front porch. The man was gone by the time police arrived, and a check of the area turned up nothing, about 9:45 p.m.
  • 10:45 p.m. Needham units dispatched the area of Captain Robert Cook's Bridge because of a reported large fight. When they arrived, police identified and interviewed a number of people. Officers will investigate the incident.

  • Great Plain Avenue, police were dispatched to the 840 block for a reported past lacent. A fence post worth about $10 was taken from the yard at about 12:15 p.m. Saturday. 
  • Four fence post caps were taken from a Fair Oaks Park residence at about 1:15 p.m.
  • Trader Joe's at about 2:15 p.m., police responded to the parking lot for a reported hit-and-run crash. The reporting party's car had some minor damage to the rear bumper. Police have no suspects at this time. 
  • 9:30 p.m., police took a walk-in report from a Greendale Avenue residence, where a sterling silver set was taken, value estimated at about $3,000. Police are investigating the still-open case. 

Sunday, April 7

  • Maple Street, 10:45 a.m., police were dispatched for a past vandalism incident. The passenger side of a vehicle was scratched.
