Needham Police Log: Phantom Tuck-and-Roll, Unlocked Car Breaks

Monday, March 25

  • While on patrol, police found a 78-year-old Wellesley man who had just run off the road and into a tree at about 10 a.m. The driver reported that he had been traveling on High Rock Street, near Tollman Road, and left the roadway, hitting first a Verizon utility pole, then crossing the road and hitting a fire hydrant and the tree. He was uninjured and refused medical treatment, and was cited for a marked lanes violation. Police filed an immediate threat on his license. 
  • A Norton resident reported to police that her car was hit while in the Chestnut Street Parking lot some time betwen 2:15 and 3 p.m.
  • After 2:15 p.m., Robinwood Avenue resident reports unauthorized charges made on his credit card. The credit card company is investigating. 
  • 1070 block of Great Plain Avenue, at 4:30 p.m., an officer is dispatched to a two-car crash on Great Plain avenue. A 57-year-old woman from Dedham who was driving a blue Lexus was transported to Beth Israel Hospital with a possible broken arm or wrist. Her car was towed from the scene. The other driver, a 17-year-old woman from Needham was uninjured and her car was driven from the scene. Neither driver was cited.

  • Police investigated a larceny incident, at about 9:15 a.m., after an Eaton Road resident reported that someone entered his unlocked car overnight, and took money from inside. 
  • An unlocked car on Stevens Road was reportedly broken into overnight. The owner reported about $120 cash was taken from inside before 1:15 p.m.
  • 2:45 p.m., police are dispatched to a Cutler Road resident where four pieces of jewelry are reportedly missing.
  • At about 2 p.m., police respond to a disturbance between a man and a woman inside a tractor trailer unit. According to a witness, the woman either fell, or was pushed, out of the cab of the trailer. When she attempted to re-enter the vehicle, she was pushed down by the male driver. After being pushed the second time, she started walking toward the highway. Police were unable to find either the tractor trailer or the victim. 
  • A Pinewood Road resident reported that money was taken from inside her unlocked car sometime overnight, at about 3 p.m.
  • An unlocked car on Coolidge Avenue appeared to have been broken into overnight. At about 6:30 p.m., a resident reported that someone appeared to have gone through the center console of his car, some time between 9 p.m. on Monday and 8 a.m. on Tuesday. Nothing was reportedly taken.

Wednesday, March 27

  • 10:15 a.m., a police officer working a detail at the intersection of Highland Avenue and Second Avenue reported seeing a white vehicle cut off a vehicle in a funeral procession. A 19-year-old Baldwin man has been cited for vehicle offenses. 
  • At about 1 p.m., police took a report of between $30 and $50 taken from inside a vehicle parked on Greenwood Avenue on Monday. 
  • Just before midnight, police responded to two Hunnewell Street addresses with reported breaking-and-entering incidents. Police searched the area with K-9 units and were unable to locate a suspect. Police are still investigating the incidents.
