Needham Resident Falls Victim to Check Scam

Police in Needham are investigating after one resident claims he was the victim of an email scam.

Officers responded to Greendale Avenue around 3 p.m. on Monday after learning of the incident.

Upon arriving at the man’s residence, the victim said he was mailed a check in which he was instructed to cash. He was then instructed to purchase an array of items, send them to an address in Connecticut, and to keep the left over money.

Police say the check turned out to be fake and it bounced.

The incident remains under investigation at this time.
