Needham Town Election Results 2013: Grimes Wins Planning Board

We've got the results of races for School Committee, Planning Board and more from yesterday's election.

 

Needham went out to the polls yesterday to elect members of the Planning Board, School Committee and Town Meeting, as well as casting votes in a number of uncontested races for other town officials. The main races were for School Committee and Planning Board. 

Candidates Artie Crocker and Elizabeth Grimes went head to head for one seat on the planning board. Netting a little over 100 votes more than her opponent, Grimes won the seat, 1,225 to 1,116 votes.

School Committee had three seats to fill, and four candidates. The newcomer, David Ecsedy, netted 633 votes, which was not enough to unseat the three incumbent candidates, Joseph Barnes, Jr. Constance Barr and Marianne Cooley, each of whom had over a thousand votes apiece. 

According to the results sheet posted on the Town Clerk's site, the town processed 2,442 votes. Meaning around 8 percent of the town's population turned out to the polls yesterday.
