Needham Woman Raises Alzheimer's Awareness

Marcy Leiman will participate in the Alzheimer's Association Greater Boston Walk to End Alzheimer's.

NEEDHAM, MA - Marcy Leiman of Needham will participate in the Alzheimer’s Association Greater Boston Walk to End Alzheimer’s on Sunday, September 25 at DCR's North Point Park in Cambridge.

"I am the Marketing Director for New Outlook Homecare," said Leiman. "I have [also] volunteered several hours at an assisted living and independent living facility. I've gotten very close with many residents and while they may not remember me, I remember them."

This is the first time Leiman joins the Walk to End Alzheimer's. She looks forward to walking and raising awareness for the people she has worked with and for her grandmother, who had dementia.

“I'd love to be part of the solution to this disease that affects so many,” said Leiman, team captain of the New Outlook Homecare team for the event. "If walking and raising awareness can help, then I'm proud to be a part of it. I want to play a part in finding a cure for this disease. ”

The Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s is the nation’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research.

“We are grateful to each person who makes a commitment to the Walk to End Alzheimer’s by participating, volunteering or making a donation,” said Jim Wessler, president/CEO of the Alzheimer’s Association, Massachusetts/New Hampshire Chapter. “The funds raised will provide support to people impacted by Alzheimer’s, while also contributing to the research that is critical to putting an end to this disease.”
