Olympic Gymnast Aly Raisman, Teammates Show off Earrings from Newton Jeweler

Adamas Fine Jewelry in Newton Highlands gave a pair of the custom earrings to every member of the U.S. Women's Gymnastics Team after they took home gold in the team competition earlier this month.

It may have not made the telecast, but there was a little bit of Newton sparkle in the closing ceremony of the London Olympics.

After giving a pair of to Olympian Aly Raisman, in Newton Highlands made four more pairs of earrings for the members U.S. Women's Gymnastics Team as a reward for their .

According to a spokesperson for the jewelry store, the earrings were sent to London via FedEx and were delivered to the girls on Thursday, Aug. 9, just in time for Sunday's closing ceremony.

Last month, the local jeweler made a of the ruby, diamond and sapphire earrings for Raisman, a Needham native. Throughout the competition, Raisman kept the earrings on as a good luck charm.

Raisman finished the 2012 Olympic Games with a in the balance beam competition and a in the floor routine competition.

But before Raisman left for London, Adamas promised to make four more pairs for Raisman's teammates if the girls brought home the gold medal for the team gymnastics competition.

And on July 31, , the U.S. Women's Gymnastics team did just that. 

Earlier this month, —Kyla Ross, Jordan Weiber, McKayla Maroney and Gabby Douglas—and have them shipped in time for the closing ceremony on Aug. 12.
