5 Things You Need to Know Today: June 11
Student film premiere, salamander talk, Cheesecake Factory special permit amendment.
1. The student film "The Shadows" will premiere at West Newton Cinema tonight at 7 p.m. RSVP to melindag@newtv.org.
2. The Indoor Farmers' Market will be ending soon to make way for the summer edition. For today, you'll find the indoor market continuing at the Hyde Community Center from 1:30 p.m.-6 p.m.
3. The Newton Conservators are co-sponsoring a program today at 7 p.m. at the Newton Free Library titled, "Eastern Red-backed Salamanders: Wolves of the Forest Floor." Ecologist Brooks Mathewson's talk will focus on the biology of red-backed salamanders and provide an overview of his research. He'll also present his photography of birds, snakes, amphibians and invertebrates living on the forest floor.

4. The Land Use Committee meets tonight and will discuss some changes to a special permit application from Cheesecake Facotry as well as some other topics. The full agenda is here.
