5 Things you Need to Know Today: June 19

Constituent hours, LGBT seniors documentary, Harriet Tubman talk and more.

1. Alderman Vicki Danberg will hold constituent hours today from 10 a.m.-11 a.m. at the Newton Senior Center.

2. The Newton Senior Center tonight at 6 will screen, "Gen Silent," a documentary about LGBT seniors in the Boston area "who must choose if they will hide their sexuality in order to survive in the long-term and home based health care systems." Seating is limited so RSVP to 617-796-1670 or msass@newtonma.gov.

3. International journalist Alan Elsner, J Street's Vice President for Communications, will speak tonight at Leventhal-Sidman Jewish Community Center. He'll address his perspectives on peace and the current relationship between the U.S. and Israel.

5. The Historic Newton Annual Meeting is tonight at 7 p.m. at 286 Waverley Ave. Historian Kate Clifford Larson will offer a talk on Harriet Tubman as 2013 marks the 100th anniversary of her death.
