5 Things You Need to Know Today: June 26

Self-defense class, Israeli film, evening walks and "The Amish Project."

1. The Newton Police RAD Team is offering an advanced women's self-defense class in mid-July. This course is for women who have completed the basic course. Check out the details of the course and the link to sign up.

2. The Circuit Theatre Company's production of "The Amish Project" is playing now at the Cambridge YMCA Theatre (820 Massachusetts Ave. in Cambridge). Read more about the play and how to snag tickets.

3. The Hammond Woods evening walk will venture into the south woods tonight. The walks are "show up and go" and depart at 6:45 p.m. More info on tonight's walk is here.

5. The Boston Jewish Film Festival tonight at 7 p.m. is screening the Israeli feature film "Room 514" at West Newton Cinema. "Think of this as an Israeli 'A Few Good Men,'" according to an announcement. Tickets are available at the door.
