Networking, paper lotus lanterns, near death experiences, scrapbooking and the indoor farmers' market.

1. Coffee and Connect. The Newton-Needham Chamber of Commerce is hosting a Coffee Connections session at the Barry L. Price Rehabilitation Center this morning at 8. Members and non-members are invited to gather for networking conversations and to learn about chamber programs and resources.
2. Lantern Making at the Library. The Newton Free Library will welcome kids in grades 2 and 3 for a Korean Paper Lotus Lantern making session. The lanterns are made yearly in honor of Buddha's birthday. Register online for the 4 p.m. session.
3. Questions about the Afterlife? David Cohen survived a near-death experience and learned that he can connect with loved ones who have passed away. He'll be at Newton North High School tonight at 7:30 p.m. to talk frankly with guests about his experiences. Cost is $18.

4. Scrapbooking 101. Michaels on Needham Street will help people get started with scrapbooking in a Scrapbooking 101 class tonight at 6:30. The basics discussed in the class can be applied to everything from scrapbooking to cardmaking and other DIY projects. Cost is $25. Call (617) 332-3972 to register.
5. Winter Farmers' Market Continues. The Newton Indoor Farmers' Market will continue for a few more weeks in Newton Highlands. The market is open Tuesdays from 1:30 p.m.-6 p.m.
