A Newton Ghost Story

A local family shares their story of a haunted house and a ghostly encounter.

Newton is filled with dozens of beautiful, old Victorian-style homes. But one of those homes, owned by the Kahn family, is a little bit different.

In a recent feature on NECN, "The Spirit of Mrs. Woodman", Newton teen Julielle Kahn talks about her friendly encounters with Mrs. Woodman, a ghostly woman who would appear on the third floor of the 135-year-old Highland Avenue home.

Julielle, who is the daughter of Jeff Kahn and Newton City Solicitor Donnalyn Kahn, met the ghost when she was just 4-years old. The encounters lasted for five years or so, NECN reported.

Although the encounters with Mrs. Woodman have stopped, the home's dishwasher and television often turn on without anyone around, NECN reported.
