Another Challenger Announces Bid for Newton Mayorship
The just announced candidate isn't new to the Newton political scene.

Tom Sheff Tuesday announced that he plans to challenge incumbent Mayor Setti Warren in Newton's fall municipal election.
Sheff is now the fourth candidate, after Warren, Ted Hess-Mahan and Jackie Gauvreau Sequeira, to announce an intention to run for Newton mayor.
"I am looking forward to going around the city and talking to people about their problems," Sheff said in the announcement from his campaign office. "There have been some questionable decisions regarding our quality of life here in Newton, we need to start doing things in a more transparent manner."

According to the announcement, Sheff resigned his position as public relations officer for the Massachusetts Independent Party in order to pursue the mayorship.
Last November, Sheff ran for the Governor's Council in District 3, but lost to incument Democrat Marilyn Petitto Devaney. Sheff has also made prior runs for Newton Board of Alderman and, in 2005, Newton Mayor.
