Boston Celtics Honor Newton’s Ben Fleishman As ‘Hero Among Us’
The youngest runner on Boston Children's Boston Marathon team was honored for his fundraising efforts and immense resilience.

NEWTON, MA – The Boston Celtics honored Newton resident Ben Fleishman as a "Hero Among Us" for inspiring many by overcoming health challenges and raising funds for Boston Children’s Hospital.
The 18-year-old was the youngest runner on the Boston Children’s Boston Marathon team. While the marathon was a challenging endeavor, it did not compare to the challenges Fleishman has faced for much of his young life.
Fleishman was diagnosed with a rare liver disease at just nine-weeks-old that left his parents with very few treatment options. After waiting on the transplant list for years, he finally received a split liver transplant at 13.
