Newton Man Who Crashed Car Into Fence, Yards, House Cited: Police
No one was seriously hurt, according to Newton Fire Department officials.

NEWTON, MA — A 72-year old Newton man was taken to the hospital Monday afternoon after he crashed his car through a fence, an embankment, several retaining walls and then drove into a house in Waban, where his car caught on fire.
Emergency responders said someone called to report a car had crashed into a house on Evelyn Road Monday afternoon just after 3 p.m. When they arrived they found tire marks leading up to a small white house where a car had come to a stop after hitting the building. Officials described the driver's injuries as minor. An ambulance took the driver to Newton Wellesley hospital.
Following an investigation, police said the crash appeared to happen after the man was turning around on the cul de sac at the end of Troy Lane. The driver crashed the car through a fence on Helene Road, drove through the back yard and then clipped a back deck damaging the deck and lattice and then continued over a patio, through some shrubs down an embankment leading into the backyard of Evelyn Road, police said.

There was no structural damage to the home, according to officials. Photos show skid marks on the grass and the car doesn't appear to have sustained much damage either.
The driver was cited for negligent operation, though it's unclear what caused the crash.
