Crystal Lake and Gath Pool Open for Pre-Season Swimming Today
It's officially swimming season in Newton.
Newton's swim spots, the Gath Memorial Pool and Crystal Lake, will open for their pre-season hours today.
A season swim pass provides access to both Gath Pool and Crystal Lake.
Permits are issued to Newton residents at rates of:

- $45 per adult (anyone 18 and older)
- $20 for students (anyone ages 6-17) and seniors (62 and older)

Here are the details for both swimming spots locations:
Crystal Lake
Swimming is permitted only in the designated beach area and swimmers must have a permit (see the rates above). In addition to the seasonal passes, daily use permits are available to residents at a rate of $6 per adult and $4 per child. Non-residents can swim for the day at a rate of $10 regardless of age.
Pre-season hours: 3 p.m.-dusk.
Gath Memorial Pool
Again, you'll need a pass to enjoy the pool.
Weekday pre-season hours:
3 p.m.-4:55 p.m. - Recreatonal swim (all swimmers);
5 p.m.-6 p.m. - Swim team practice
6 p.m.-dusk - Recreation/Adult Swim - open to all swimmers
Baby Pool Opens at 1 p.m. and closes at dusk
Weekend/Holiday hours:
1 p.m.-dusk - General swim (closed July 4 for fireworks preparation)
