The Falls at Cordingly Dam Undergoing $10-Million Renovation
Newton staple delivering spacious, modern common areas, additional river views and renovated apartments

The Falls at Cordingly Dam, a Benchmark Senior Living assisted living and Mind & Memory Care community, is undergoing a $10-million renovation project to modernize the 24-year-old assisted living with memory care community in Newton, MA. The project includes opening more spaces where residents and families can enjoy stunning views of the Charles River. It will also create a wide variety of open-concept common areas and modern apartments designed to further improve quality of life, including nurturing residents’ passions and human connection.
“We want everyone to appreciate the splendor of the tranquil river surrounded by mature trees and the dam that dates back to 1704 from many different vantage points,” said Deb Foster, executive director of The Falls at Cordingly Dam. “We are excited to be able to bring even more to our residents, their family members and our caring associates who are committed to excellence.”

Twenty-two freshly renovated senior assisted living and Mind & Memory Care apartments are available for immediate occupancy. These independent assisted living and memory care assisted living apartments include amenities like upgraded kitchenettes with new appliances, newly appointed bathrooms, granite countertops, and new flooring and lighting.

- Additional indoor and outdoor water-view dining options, including a casual Bistro, outdoor kitchen, family room with a full kitchen and dining room, and a demonstration kitchen
- Wellness Suite offering physical therapy and fitness classes
- A recreation room for participating in programs, such as The Falls’ popular Expressive Arts Therapy program
- Refreshed, modern salon providing hair and nail services
- Covered entrance featuring a grand porte cochere and a new lobby
All spaces will feature interior design by the award-winning Austin, TX-based StudioSIX5, which has created a modern, transitional design with traditional New England touches. Pops of vibrant blues and greens will complement neutral colors.

The project was designed by New Hampshire architects Udelsman Associates and Port One Architects. The general contractor is Platinum Builders in Newton, Mass.
